B.C. premier announces $5-billion COVID-19 aid and recovery plan
Premier John Horgan says his government has introduced a $5-billion plan to help individuals, businesses, service organizations and the government endure the novel coronavirus pandemic and rebuild the economy once it ends. He says individuals who apply for Employment Insurance are eligible to apply and receive $1,000 from the province, while businesses can defer payment of taxes until the fall. Horgan says the government is also working on further incentives to protect tenants from eviction. He says of the $5 billion, the government will spend $1.5 billion on economic recovery initiatives.
