Environment leaders fear virus will kill hope of getting a climate budget

A coalition of environment, Indigenous and social justice groups said Tuesday they are worried the economic anxiety caused by the coronavirus and plunging oil prices will mean the federal government will abandon its plan to turn the next budget into a big investment in climate action. The groups say they understand that anxiety but that this is actually an excellent time to use stimulus spending to encourage growth in clean energy and technology, as well as building and home retrofits.
