Newsroom Ready: Conservative post-election gathering gets underway on Parliament Hill

Members of the federal Conservative caucus gathered on Parliament Hill Wednesday to sift the ashes of the 2019 federal election campaign — and contemplate the future of leader Andrew Scheer. The meeting followed a casual gathering with MPs that Scheer hosted at his official residence Tuesday night. The Conservatives earned their largest share of the popular vote in the October election since their inception in 2004, and successfully elected 26 more MPs than they had in 2017, when Scheer took over the leadership. But many had high hopes that the Conservatives could defeat Justin Trudeau's Liberals handily.
