Quebec restaurants can now charge for no-shows

Under new rules in effect as of July 17, Quebec restaurant owners can now charge a fee of up to $10 to people who make a reservation but don't show up. An association representing Quebec restaurant owners has estimated that no-shows cost the average eatery about $49,000 per year. (July 17, 2025)
