Thousands apply for B.C.'s $1,000 worker benefit

B.C.'s one-time, tax-free $1,000 benefit for workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic started accepting online applications Friday. Finance Minister Carole James says the response was huge, with more than 16,000 people applying in the first 45 minutes of the program going online. The B.C. benefit is available to people who are eligible for the federal government's Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
