Newsroom Ready: Singh calls on the federal government to end for-profit long-term care homes

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, health care workers, union leaders and families of elderly people who died in deadly COVID-19 outbreaks want the federal government to put a stop to its role in for-profit long-term care homes — especially its ownership of the Revera chain through a Crown investment corporation. They held an emotional rally on Parliament Hill to express their anger and frustration over the COVID-19 death toll in long-term care, surrounded by 2,000 pairs of empty shoes on the Hill’s main lawn.
