U.S. envoy says frequent Trump, Carney talks aim at shared economic growth
Pete Hoekstra, the U.S. Ambassador to Canada, says President Donald Trump's goal of enhancing American power aligns with Prime Minister Mark Carney's aim of becoming the fastest-growing G7 economy. He says the two leaders are in frequent talks -- discussions he doesn't always hear about -- and want to deliver shared economic. His comments come despite tariffs and widespread backlash in Canada to Trump's tariffs and threats against Canada's sovereignty. (June 6, 2025)
