Men convicted in case of frozen migrant family in Manitoba

A jury has convicted two men of being part of a human smuggling ring that saw people walk across the Canada-U.S. border between Manitoba and Minnesota in frigid weather. On one crossing in 2022, a couple and their two children from India were found frozen to death. Sentencing has been set for March for Harshkumar Patel and Steve Shand. (Nov. 22, 2024)
