Supporters express hope for the future as Gabon coup leader wins elections by landslide

Supporters of Gabon’s newly elected president Gen. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema celebrated in the streets of Libreville through the night. Oligui Nguema, 50, recorded a landslide victory with 90.35% of votes cast, defeating seven other candidates, including immediate past Prime Minister Alain Claude Bilie-By-Nze.
