Liberal leadership candidate Gould wants to hike corporate taxes, slash GST

Former Liberal House leader Karina Gould says if she becomes prime minister, she'll lower the GST by a full percentage point for a year to give tax relief to Canadians who are financially struggling. She is also promising to increase the corporate tax rate for companies that earn over $500 million in profit annually to 17 per cent, from 15 per cent. (Jan. 30, 2025)
