Federal loans for big companies come with demand for ownership stake
Big companies can borrow $60 million or more from the federal government to keep going through the COVID-19 pandemic, Finance Minister Bill Morneau says. But besides charging interest, Morneau says the government will seek the right to take an ownership stake, or a cash equivalent, so taxpayers see benefits from helping companies that can't get private financing.
