Newsroom Ready: Scheer announces resignation as Conservative leader
Andrew Scheer stood in the House of Commons Thursday to announce he is stepping down as Conservative leader. Scheer says he will support whoever is chosen as his successor and promises that person will have the backing of Conservative MPs. Scheer received a standing ovation from MPs, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh thanked Scheer for his service.
