Newsroom Ready: Alberta man finds vintage plane he sold nearly five decades ago

An Alberta man has been reunited with a vintage airplane he sold nearly 50 years ago. Richard Reid, who lives near Cremona, northwest of Calgary, bought the 1946 two-seater plane when he was 19 and estimates he had a thousand take offs and landings before he sold it for something bigger and faster in 1972. His son, who grew up seeing photos of it, tracked it down in a farmer's barn near North Battleford, Saskatchewan and it's now been returned home. Reid says it's in pretty good shape and they're in the process of rebuilding it to get it back in the air. He says he wouldn't hesitate to take it up again once it is deemed airworthy. The plane has a fabric coating and flies at a maximum of 133 kilometres an hour.
