Newsroom Ready: Afghanistan crisis casts a shadow over federal election campaign

The crisis in Afghanistan has thrown up an alarming backdrop to the federal election. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has faced questions daily about the situation on the ground, where Canada boarded some 3,700 Canadian nationals and Afghan refugees onto evacuation flights in recent weeks. Both NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole say Trudeau didn't act fast enough. Green Party Leader Annamie Paul cancelled her campaign plans for the day to focus on the issue and urged other federal party leaders to do the same.
