Garneau condemns Chinese sentence on Spavor
Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau promised on Wednesday that Canada will continue to fight for the release of Michael Spavor and other Canadians arbitrarily detained in China. Garneau said his government condemns "in the strongest possible terms" a Chinese court's 11-year prison sentence for Spavor, which followed a closed-door trial in March in which the entrepreneur was found guilty of spying on China.
