Newsroom Ready: Rally against B.C. natural gas pipeline

Supporters of Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs rallied in Vancouver against the Coastal GasLink pipeline being built in northern B.C. Hereditary Chief Namoks says the pipeline company is proposing to drill under a river that members of the Wet'suwet'en Nation depend on. While a number of elected band councils along the 670-kilometre pipeline route have signed off, Namoks says Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs have not consented to the project, and their traditional territory has never been ceded or surrendered.
