Liberals should drop Indigenous child welfare cases: Singh
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says the federal government is wasting time and money and sending a very bad message to Indigenous communities by challenging Canadian Human Rights Tribunal rulings, including one that awarded what amounts to billions of dollars in compensation to First Nations children inappropriately taken away from their parents after 2006. He says the government should comply with the tribunal’s orders, and if there’s additional damages, the government can cover them later.
