Injured Humboldt Bronco 'always smiling' and working to overcome brain injury
Former Humboldt Bronco Layne Matechuk still doesn't say much but his smile speaks volumes. Matechuk was in a coma for a month after the accident suffering a brain injury that's impacted his ability to speak andlimited the use of his right arm. But his father Kevin says he's making slow and steady progress. He's been skating since January and has been practicing with a hockey stick. He said he's hoping to be well enough to play with the 'Limpsticks' in his hometown next season and says his slapshot is almost 'top shelf'.
