The news comes just a year after the Bezos' said they would donate $2 billion to existing non-profits which would help the homeless and build schools in low-income areas in the U.S. They originally met while working together at hedge fund D.E. Shaw back in the early '90s. The estranged pair, who have four kids together, made the announcement in a joint statement on Twitter. The divorce could potentially be costly for Bezos whose net worth of $137 billion makes him one of the world's richest men.
