Finance minister Champagne defends need to invest in fall budget

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne says the government’s upcoming fall budget will pivot Ottawa’s spending towards investments. He says returns from that capital spending will help drive down the deficit in future years. (Sept. 18, 2025)
