This year's Toronto Film Critics Association awards gala brought out Canadian filmmakers and stars, many of whom said they were thrilled to be among their peers again and how essential the return to theatres is during a difficult few years for the world. Later in the evening, "Beans" director Tracey Deer was named the winner of the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award, which co-writer and executive producer Meredith Vuchnich accepted on her behalf.
