Chiefs, Metis nations call for Alberta Energy Regulator to be shut down
Chiefs and leaders from Metis nations in the area near Alberta’s oilsands say the province’s energy regulator has lost all credibility following an unreported leak from Imperial Oil’s Kearl oilsands mine. They were in Ottawa to testify at the House of Commons Environment Committee which is investigating how the leak went on for nine months without the communities or the federal government being notified.
