The Canadian officer commanding a NATO battle group in Latvia says while the group is a deterrent force, if required they are there to help defend the country against Russian aggression. Lt.-Col. Jesse van Eijk, who is head of the Enhanced Forward Presence Latvia battle group, says the threat is very real in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
