Thirteen people have died, and 21 are missing, according to Brazil's Civil Defense, after heavy rains hit south of the country since Monday. Rio Grande do Sul state Governor Eduardo Leite said Thursday the death toll was expected to rise in the state due to the difficult access to the landslide sites.
