Newsroom Ready: Plans continue for B.C. orca calf rescue attempt
Preparations are well underway for a complex attempt to rescue a stranded killer whale calf from a remote tidal lagoon near Zeballos, B.C., on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. Crews have been moving large nets and hukilau lines, directional line devices used in traditional Hawaiian fishing communities, to a staging area at the lagoon. (April 11, 2024)
