New government House leader seeks better decorum
Steven MacKinnon, who is stepping in as government House leader while Karina Gould is on parental leave, says MPs from all parties should set a better tone when the House of Commons resumes sitting later this month. The Liberal MP for Gatineau, Que., across the river from Ottawa, is taking on the role of negotiating with other parties to shepherd legislation through the lower chamber, where he says politicians haven’t shown each other enough respect.
