Canada ‘reflecting’ on hard lessons of record wildfire season
Canadian Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson says he is reflecting on hard lessons from this year's record wildfire season, including the possible need for more firefighter standardization across provincial borders and beyond.
Wilkinson says while the curriculum for firefighter training remains primarily a provincial responsibility, all levels of government and firefighting jurisdictions need to look deeper into "greater interoperability" of crews regardless of where they are based. (August 11, 2023)
