Scientists investigate how tiny fish make loud sounds

Swimming in a tank, these small fish are creating a big noise. But how can this small vertebrate, measuring just 12 mm in length, produce sounds over 140 decibels? A new study published in the journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found the Danionella cerebrum fish can produce powerful, loud noises. (Feb. 28)
